Nigeria won the first three editions of the prized event, but it was the Ivory Coast who dethroned them last year, in a heart-stopping final.
Any event that has run annually for five years has to have built up a great following and respect from the beach soccer world, but Nigeria has gone above and beyond as Lagos and the Cup have become internationally recognized and a dream destination for players, fans, and officials alike. The event has always been a jewel of the region as it rounds out the year where much of the world is in the heart of winter, so the warm paradise is welcomed by all. The teams include three local squads, Pepsi Academy FC, Shooting Stars, and Kano Pillars. Highlighting the club teams is the Catalan giant, who recently won the IV Mundialito de Clubes Beach Soccer 2015 in Rio de Janeiro, FC Barcelona.
