FC Barcelona has begun to gain importance and adulations from the rest of the international beach soccer world with their roster of stars, their foresight in the growth of the sport, and their extremely loyal fan base. The name Barça is commonly connected to excellence and with its history and unique perspective on sport as a champion, the future is bright for the team and the sport. On the beautiful sands of Sao Paulo, Brazil in 2011 at the Mundialito de Cubes, Barça participated in their first beach soccer event of such stature and their level of participation has steadily increased since that iconic event.
Los Cules strongly believed in a FIFA discipline that outstands for being young, and for having endless possibilities to grow even more, and joined some of the biggest names in the panorama of the sport that also have top-flight beach soccer squads. Some of those great teams include AC Milan, CA Peñarol, CR Flamengo, CA Boca Juniors, Sporting Clube de Portugal, FC Lokomotiv Moscow, Al-Ahli FC, SC Corinthians, and CR Vasco da Gama, to name a few. In Spain many other big clubs are fielding top national league team such as Valencia CF, Levante UD, and Girona FC.
The accomplishments on the pitch are numerous, such as several victories in friendly matches all over the globe, including Qatar against AC Milan, Lagos against local Nigerian clubs, and the middle east again for a match against a the National Selection of Qatar amidst the FIFA Beach Soccer World Cup 2013 – AFC Qualifier Qatar.
However, the involvement of the team goes well beyond the above mentioned matches and events; they are constantly giving back to the community. In Qatar, during the AFC Qualifier, the team, players and coaches, including the beach soccer legend and head coach of Barça, Ramiro Amarelle, participated in a clinic with a school of disabled children, to help promote health and fun outside the normal confines of competition regularly associated with the sport.
