Portugal and Brazil clear their matches against France and Portugal to set the beat in the opening of the BSWW Mundialito
Brazil opens Mundialito in firm stand
The Brazilian National team opened this BSWW Mundialito facing a fierce opponent, current CONCACAF Champions Mexico, in a prelude of the battle they both are to reedit in Ravenna in three weeks time. After today, both teams know what they need to face in the World Cup. Although their convincing win this afternoon, Brazil knows that the Mexicans are a tough rival, hard to bend, who never gives up. And Mexico, in turn, knows that when facing the World Champions, one second you may take to breathe can be far too much.
As some other times before, the Azteca managed to open the game, achieving to stay ahead for the last minutes of the first period, and most of the second. But, just in three minutes, the situation drastically turned over, with Sidney and Andre making it 3-1 in not more than 150 seconds… Once they are in command, it is almost impossible to derail the Brazilians, and it is just a matter of trying to suffer the lighter possible damage.
André again, Bruno and Anderson widened the gap up to the 6-1, almost dropping the curtain of a match in which Mexico could only have a one more say, with Plata’s hit for the 6-2.
Goals: 0-1: Fragoso, min. 4 (1); 1-1: Sidney, min. 3 (2); 2-1: André, min. 1 (2); 3-1: Sidney, min. 0 (2); 4-1: André, min. 9 (3); 5-1: Bruno, min. 7 (3); 6-1: Anderson, min. 4 (3); 6-2: Plata, min. 3 (3)
Portugal defends territory
Unimpressed by the Brazilian display in the opening of the Mundialito, Portugal wanted to set clear that they are playing at home. Although not being at the peak of their brilliantness, as coach Ze Miguel assured in the press conference after the match, the Portuguese offered a great sensation by knocking France out in their first match in Portimao.
After Alan neutralized the ephemeral advantage of the French’s opener, the game came absolutely under red control. At the beginning of the third period, the Lusitanians had built a solid advantage without letting Les Bleus chance to react at all. Only Samoun could cut the distance a bit with the 2-4, but, at that point it was already too late for them to try the assault. Not because of the result, as in beach soccer, a two goal advantage can be quickly dried out, but because of the Portuguese solidness, which bode little room for the comeback.
The last minutes of the game had an unmistakable protagonist: Belchior. Portugal’s number 10, who had not appeared much over the sand of Praia de Rocha, killed the game with two goals, and equalized the goal average achieved by Brazil. Now, the Verdeamarela only stand ahead due to Portugal’s having been shown two yellow cards.
Goals: 1-0, Basquaise, min. 11 (1); 1-1: Alan, min. 11; 1-2: Jordan, min. 3 (1) ; 1-3 : Bruno Torre, min. 5 (2) ; 1-4 : Jordan, min. 10 (3) ; 2-4 : Samoun, min. 9 (3) ; 2-5 : Belchior, min. 1 (3) ; 2-6 : Belchior, min. 0 (3)
