The new Euro Beach Soccer League will give access to the European Olympic Games (Baku 2015), as the EBSC, the Euro Winners Cup and the Mundialito set dates
The European season for this 2014 is ready to start its engines, and it comes this year with a refurbished format! The core tournament of every summer in the Old continent comes with new venues and a very important novelty, as the final standings will provide the first places for the European Olympic Games, to be held in Baku (Azerbaijan) in 2015 .
May will see a new edition of the Euro Beach Soccer Cup. The traditional play-off tournament, featuring the best eight teams (as per 2013 results) in the Old Continent will take place in the Ukrainian capital, Kiev, between 23rd and 25th of May.
Shortly afterwards -just two days, indeed-, the champions of every single National League across Europe will come down to Italy to combat in the second edition of the Euro Winners Cup. After the terrifically successful maiden edition of the tournament, held in San Benedetto del Tronto, and with Lokomotiv Moscow prevailing over 20 different clubs, this second episode anticipates an ever wider participation.
As June commences, the Euro Beach Soccer League starts flying, with six different regular phase stages leading to a Superfinal and a Promotion Final, which will dictate who conquers the continental throne and who suffers relegation to Division B. But the number of events and the new venues is not the only brand new feature of this 2014 EBSL… As already stated, this season’s League will give the teams the chance to qualify for the upcoming Baku 2015 European Olympic Games. (The exact criteria will be communicated in due date)
The calendar of the upcoming Euro Beach Soccer League 2014, with 12 teams in Division A and twelve more teams in Division B, goes as follows:
o 6th – 8th June 2014 – EBSL Catania (Italy)
o 20th – 22nd June 2014 – EBSL Valence (France)
o 27th – 29th June 2014 – EBSL Sopot (Poland)
o 11th – 13th July 2014 – EBSL Moscow (Russia)
o 18th – 20th July 2014 – EBSL The Hague (Holland)
o 8th – 10th August 2014 – EBSL Siófok (Hungary)
o 14th – 17th August 2014 – EBSL Superfinal and Promotion Final Torredembarra (Spain)
(The distribution of the teams in each stage will be known soon)
Besides the XVIIth Euro Beach Soccer League and the Euro Beach Soccer Cup, another of the summer classics will have its moment in this summer. The XIXth BSWW Mundialito, again in the sands of Vila Nova de Gaia, will have the party rocking high between 25th and 27th of July.
And after all this… The FIFA Beach Soccer World Cup Qualifier!
But do not even think that the action will flag after the finals of the Euro Beach Soccer League have crowned a new champion… No less than the path to the FIFA Beach Soccer World Cup 2015 will be given the starting signal, with the European Qualifier, to be held in Iesolo (Italy) between 4th and 14th of September. Four World Cup berths, plus the one granted to Portugal as the host country, will be laid at stake in this traditionally fierce battle.
