Schedules and locations have been finalised for the upcoming Euro Beach Soccer League as well as this year’s Euro Beach Soccer Cup and BSWW Mundialito
The schedule for the Euro Beach Soccer League 2016 has been confirmed, with Russia, Spain, Hungary and Italy all due to host either group stage events or the Superfinal and Promotion Final.
Once again, 24 teams will battle it out during the 19th edition of the competition, with the top 12 seeking to reach the Superfinal while those in Division B eye a spot in the top league.
The league gets under way in Moscow between July 1st and 3rd, with the Russian capital due to see its side take on Switzerland, France and Poland in Group One.
Spain, Italy, Belarus and Greece are paired together in Group Two as regular hosts Moscow – a key location in the European top-flight season over the past decade – once again get the competition under way.
A month later, the Euro Beach Soccer League comes back to Spain, following successful stages in Torredembarra in 2012, 2013 and 2014, as world champions and holders Portugal join the party in Sanxenxo.
Between July 8th and 10th, the Portuguese will take on group rivals Switzerland, Germany and Greece while Romania – following their Promotion Final success last term – face Ukraine, Spain and France.
Siofok, Hungary, will host the remaining phase for the third year running as the final standings are ironed out between August 12th and 14th.
Romania face a stern test against the in-form Portuguese as well as Russia and Belarus, with Ukraine, Italy, Germany and Poland meeting to salvage any remaining points before the finals later in the month.
The Sicilian city of Catania has hosted the Euro Winners Cup for the last three years, and, like in 2014, will also hold a Euro Beach Soccer League event this season, with the Superfinal and the Promotion Final.
The two events will take place in the Sicilian city between August 25th and 28th and will govern next season’s final positions.
The full line-up of teams for Division B will be announced in due course.
Intertwined within the Euro Beach Soccer League is the always popular Euro Beach Soccer Cup and the legendary BSWW Mundialito.
The former takes places in Belgrade between June 24th and 26th while the latter – one of the most prestigious Beach Soccer events, having run since 1994 – will be held a month later from July 29th to 31st in Cascais, Portugal.
Holders Spain and hosts Serbia are among those teams confirmed to take part in the Euro Beach Soccer Cup while the Mundialito will be held on the world champions’ sand.
Following a hugely successful 2015, Portugal will fancy their chances of claiming a sixth world title on Carcavelos Beach, with the full match schedule and list of teams due to be confirmed in the coming weeks.
