England and Germany score 30 goals over the weekend

Both sides faced in two friendlies on Saturday and Sunday in London, with one win for each side

England faced Germany twice this weekend at Lee Valley’s White Water Centre in Waltham Cross on the outskirts of London, with both teams clinching one win. 

The hosts won 6-3 on Saturday with England’s Joe Maxwell and Scott Lawson and Germany’s Christian Biermann all grabbing two goals a piece.

In Sunday’s 21 goal thriller, Germany’s Christian Biermann led the way with 6 goals. Aaron Clarke and Cameron O’Rourke both scored hat-tricks for the home nation but it was Germany who won 13-8

Germany’s Italian Coach Matteo Marrucci said “we want to thank England Beach Soccer and Lee Valley White Water Centre for their hospitality, it has been a very important experience for our preparation

David Jones, Head of Beach Soccer in England, congratulated Germany on their victory on Sunday and said “England hope to host more weekends like this in the future.” 

He added “we felt honoured that Germany chose to come to England, especially given that Michael Lichtnecker (Chairman of DFB Grassroots Committee) was part of the delegation party.

Besides the two international friendly games, two Youth Tournaments formed part of the beach soccer weekend, with Lambeth Tigers taking home the trophy on Saturday and Brimsdown Youth being crowned Champions on Sunday after a narrow victory against Shoreditch Youth.

 

A new home for beach soccer in England

Lee Valley White Water Centre is now the home of both the Men’s and Women’s national teams and it’s expected that youth and adult teams from the Greater London area will soon be playing beach soccer on a regular basis. 

Rowland Omamor, Commercial Operations Manager of the Lee Valley White Water Centre, stated “we would like to host more International and Youth Beach Soccer Events in the future.”
