Croatia play beach soccer friendlies against France

The Vatreni lost to Les Bleus in friendlies played in Umag on Wednesday and Friday

In a huge step forward for beach soccer in Croatia, two friendlies against Division A side France took place on Wednesday 3 August and Friday 5 August.

Les Bleus won by 14 goals to two in the first match, but an historic day for the Croatians saw them net their two first beach soccer goals, courtesy of Emanuel Benkovic and Marin Perkovic.

In the second match on Friday’s match, Claude Barabe’s men won 13-0. Les Bleus also contested a friendly earlier in the week against Switzerland, and lost by eight goals to five.

The friendly matches were the latest steps in the start of a special journey for the nation of Croatia, following a meeting in December between the Federation and Beach Soccer Worldwide.
