Beach Soccer Worldwide, the Costa Rican Football Federation, and Lifupla held productive discussions regarding the future development of the sport in the country.
The growth of beach soccer in Costa Rica has been remarkable in recent years, under the leadership of the Costa Rican Football Federation (FCF) and the Liga de Fútbol Playa (Lifupla). This week, both institutions met with Beach Soccer Worldwide to discuss upcoming plans and opportunities for beach soccer in Costa Rica.
Beach Soccer Worldwide’s Director of Events, Josep Ponset, FCF President Osael Maroto, and Lifupla President Stewart Gómez Chévez outlined objectives and strategic pathways for hosting international-level events and competitions in the nation.
Costa Rica currently has both men’s and women’s domestic leagues, with Costa Rican clubs also taking part in international competitions such as the Americas Winners Cup.

At national team level, the Federation activated its women’s beach soccer team in 2024, which has already competed in the Acapulco Beach Soccer Cup and the El Salvador Beach Soccer Cup.
The men’s national team has a longer history, having secured two silver medals at the Concacaf Beach Soccer Championship, in 2009 and 2015.
