The competition was officially unveiled today at a press conference in San Salvador

Beach Soccer Worldwide (BSWW) and the Instituto Nacional de los Deportes de El Salvador (INDES) officially presented the third edition of the Americas Winners Cup 2025 today, during a press conference held in San Salvador with the presence of all the Salvadoran teams that are competing in the event. The competition will return to the country from 1 to 7 December.

The launch event was led by INDES President ad honorem, Yamil Bukele, alongside BSWW Director of Events, Josep Ponset, both of whom highlighted the tournament’s growth and its importance in the international beach soccer calendar.

During his address, Yamil Bukele emphasised El Salvador’s key role in the development of the sport:

“Beach soccer has captivated the Americas, and El Salvador has been a protagonist; great players come here, not only from the Americas but from all over the world, to play beach soccer.”

Josep Ponset: “For beach soccer, being in El Salvador is being at home.”

Josep Ponset delivered a series of remarks underlining the strong partnership between BSWW and the host nation. He opened by expressing deep appreciation for the local organisers:

“A very special thanks to INDES for their professionalism, dedication and collaborative spirit.”

He continued by describing the unique relationship between the sport and the country:

“For beach soccer, being in El Salvador is being at home.”

Ponset highlighted that El Salvador is the birthplace of the Americas Winners Cup, a tournament that has found in the country “the perfect place to grow”. He also emphasised how the event has evolved far beyond its original scope.

A tournament that has become global

“The Americas Winners Cup has transcended pan-American borders and has become global,” Ponset noted. The 2025 edition will feature clubs from 10 countries, with players representing 27 nationalities, including from regions as far away as Japan and Europe.

He also underlined the worldwide reach of the event:

“This is a tournament that reaches 189 countries through television and streaming on beachsoccertv.com.”

A competition marked by exponential growth

The growth of the tournament since its inception has been remarkable. Ponset highlighted the key figures:

  • First edition (February 2023): 15 teams, 176 players
  • Third edition (2025): 38 teams, 456 players

He stressed:

“From 15 to 38 teams, from 176 to 456 players: more than double. This level of growth confirms the success of this project.”

Women’s game expands at a historic moment

Ponset also celebrated the rapid expansion of the women’s tournament — particularly relevant as global calls intensify for a women’s Beach Soccer World Cup:

  • From 5 to 18 women’s teams
  • From 56 to 216 players

“Almost four times more,” he remarked. “A reflection of the momentum and ambition of the women’s game.”

A growing partnership and a passionate host

The 2025 Americas Winners Cup will be played at the Estadio de Deportes de Playa, located within the Flor Blanca Sports Complex, with early-phase matches held at the University of El Salvador (UES).

Bukele also highlighted the commitment behind the tournament’s development:

“We decided to back this tournament, as well as the Easter tournaments, and it has not been easy. But now, with 38 teams in the third edition, the effort, perseverance and decision to support beach soccer have become a tremendous reality and a great satisfaction.”

With elite clubs, international talent and an enthusiastic local fan base, the Americas Winners Cup continues to consolidate itself as one of the sport’s flagship competitions.
