Braga lift the Taça de Portugal!

Os Guerreiros defeated Casa do Benfica de Loures in the final on Sunday

Sunday 5 September saw SC Braga claim their second consecutive Taça de Portugal!

It was the second edition of the National Cup competition, and the second won by SC Braga, who beat Casa do Benfica de Loures in the final by 7-2.

In a game largely controlled by the Guerreiros do Minho, Braga started in impeccable style, leading by the end of the first period by 5-0. With this shattering start, the Benfica side rarely threatened the Braga advantage.

At the end of the match, SC Braga celebrated in the Estadio do Viveiro Jordan Santos, in Nazaré. They complete the double, having already won the sixth Elite Division title this season.

More good news for the club is that Jordan Santos, 2019 World’s Best Player, returned to action and marked it by scoring in the final. Other goals came from Lucão (2), Bruno Torres, Bê Martins, Léo Martins and Fábio Costa, while Luis Vaz netted Casa Benfica’s two goals.

The trophy was presented by Rui Manhoso, director of the FPF.

Fernando Gomes, president of the Portuguese Football Federation, congratulated the Braga team:
“I congratulate Sporting Clube de Braga for the reconquest of the Portuguese Beach Soccer Cup. That goes to all the players, coaching staff and structure of the club who have won the double, having also won the Elite Division.”
