Victory in Montevideo ensures Bella Vista a spot at the Copa Libertadores 2018.
CA Bella Vista will represent Uruguay at the Copa Libertadores this year after being crowned national champions in Montevideo on Sunday.
Bella Vista – who finished top of the table after the league’s first stage – completed the job at the weekend as they saw off Racing Club 3-1 on penalties after the sides ended extra-time level at 5-5.
Racing had finished top of the Torneo Clausura – the league’s second stage – but ultimately Bella Vista proved too strong when the sides met in the final of the third annual Liga Uruguaya.
Bella Vista’s Diego Pastoriza was the man to settle the contest, converting the decisive penalty as the champions were sent on their way to the Copa Libertadores, which is set to be played in March.
