Noel Ott, Chiky Ardil and Bê Martins named as nominees for the Best Player
A new Best Player in the World will be crowned this year!
Stars from the Swiss, Spanish and Portuguese national teams have been named in the final three candidates in the race for the ultimate beach soccer individual award.
The three nominees are:
– Noel Ott (Switzerland)
– Chiky Ardil (Spain)
– Bê Martins (Portugal)
The 2022 Beach Soccer Stars see Swiss number 10 Noel Ott nominated for the Best Player award for the first time since the very first edition back in 2014, when he won the Rising Star award. Ott played a starring role in the first Euro Beach Soccer League title for Switzerland in ten years – scoring one of the year’s nominated Best Goals in the Superfinal – and finished third in the Euro Winners Cup with Falfala. He also helped the Nati qualify for the ANOC World Beach Games (Bali) and the European Games (Poland), both of which will take place in 2023.
The second nominee is Spaniard Chiky Ardil, who has enjoyed the season of his life in 2022, winning the Euro Winners Cup in a true underdog story, helping Casa Benfica defeat Portuguese giants SC Braga in the final. With La Roja, he also won the Mundialito, scoring a goal which has been nominated for the Best Goal award against old Iberian rivals Portugal and winning the MVP trophy. He then single-handedly defeated Europe’s top ranked team once again in the final of the European Qualifier for the ANOC World Beach Games, putting five past the Portuguese, and claiming both the MVP and Top Scorer award.
The third nominee is Bê Martins, whose twin brother Leo was nominated in the final three in last year’s edition of the Stars. This is the first time Bê has been named in the top three, despite performing at the highest level for many years. This season he won the domestic treble with club SC Braga, as well as reaching the final of the Euro Winners Cup. He also made it to the finals of the EBSL Superfinal, Mundialito and ANOC World Beach Games European Qualifier with the Portuguese national team, and rounded off the season with a starring role in Real Münster’s winning of the World Winners Cup in Italy, where he won both the Top Scorer and MVP award.
The nominees are voted for by the captains and coaches of the national teams.
