Madjer leads the way for the Dubai-side with 5 goals in the final, thus also securing the Top scorer award
Al Ahli became the proud winners of the first edition of the United Arab Emirates National Beach Soccer League. The red side walked past Ajman Club in the final of the Championship, played this weekend in Al Mamzar Beach (Dubai) in front of thousands of Beach Soccer passionate supporters. After failing to knock the subsequently Champions out in the previous stage, Al Nasr beat Hatta Club 7-3 for the third place, and also secured the MVP and Best Goalkeeper Awards for Ali Karim and Humaid.
Banking on a top-fit Madjer, indeed, is handling significant possibilities of winning whatever tournament you may be involved in. And, if you team him up with the likes of international stars such as Meier, Coimbra or Hassan, and National heroes such as Qambar or Abbas, you just then need a strong determination and a bit of luck to have the formula working. And it did.
Heavily blitzed by the Portuguese sorcerer, Ajman Club found it never possible to counteract Al Ahli’s strength, who got an early advantage and would never let their opponents climb too close. After having bent biggest opponent, Al Nasr, in semifinals after a great suffering (only the penalty kick shootout gave the red side the green light to the final), it seemed really difficult that Al Ahli would let anyone upset them, and they brushed any possible doubt as they hit the very sand.
After the tournament, Dr. Ahmed Al Sharif, Secretary General, Dubai Sports Council, presented the trophies to the winners, and congratulated everyone for such a thrilling competition: “The inaugural edition of this league has been a huge success”, he said, as he also announced that the people in charge of Beach Soccer in the country will work, together with National Coach Marcelo Mendes aiming to find new talent for the National Squad.
