The event was unveiled today in a press conference in Accra
Between 8 and 10 of May, Laboma Beach in Accra will host the first edition of the One Humanity Beach Soccer Cup.
The event is organised under the umbrella of the UNAOC-led One Humanity Campaign, which promotes unity, inclusion, and shared human values through sport in collaborations with Beach Soccer Worldwide.
The One Humanity Beach Soccer Cup 2026 was officialy presented today in a press conference that took place in Accra.
Banasco Nuhu Seidu, Executive Director of NASCO Feeding Minds and Lead Organiser, said the tournament represents a long-term vision for sport in Ghana. “This is more than a tournament. It is about legacy, opportunity and using sport to unite communities and inspire young people.”
Yaw Ampofo Ankrah, Director General of the National Sports Authority, described the event as timely and strategic. “Beach soccer offers a unique opportunity to activate our coastline while showcasing Ghana’s readiness to host world-class international sporting events.”
Mr. Yaw Gyamfi Kusi Awere, Chairman of the GFA Beach Soccer Committee, said the competition would elevate the sport locally. “This tournament provides vital international exposure for our players and strengthens Ghana’s place within the global beach soccer ecosystem.”
The tournament will be contested by four men’s national teams in a round-robin format. Hosts Ghana and Nigeria are confirmed participations with the other two teams being disclosed soon.
Alongside the tournament, a series of beach soccer clinics, youth activities, and community engagement initiatives will be organised for children and young people from disadvantaged communities, using beach soccer as a tool to foster peace, inclusion, respect, and mutual understanding.
