Day 2 in Castellammare di Stabia delivered standout performances. Host Italy cruised past Estonia, Switzerland delivered a dominant display against Latvia, and Denmark edged Czechia in a tight Division A contest. In Division B, Kazakhstan defeated Norway, while Romania overpowered Malta. The Women’s Division delivered exciting moments, as Portugal impressed against the Netherlands and Switzerland claimed a thrilling penalty shootout victory over Italy.

Division A
Group A

Denmark win 3-2 against Czechia.
Denmark edged Czechia 3–2 in a tightly contested match marked by late drama. After a quiet first period, Wegeberg broke the deadlock with a late strike to hand Denmark a narrow 1–0 lead, as Czechia struggled to convert their chances.

Jensen doubled Denmark’s lead midway through the second period, giving them a strong position. However, Czechia mounted a quick response through Vales, who struck twice in quick succession to level the game 2–2 before the final period.

The third period remained evenly balanced, with both sides pushing for the winner. With just a minute remaining, Dorph found the net to seal a hard-fought 3–2 win for Denmark and three valuable points.

Italy win 5-2 against Estonia.
Italy secured a solid 5–2 victory over Estonia in front of their home crowd, breaking through a tight first period in the closing minutes. Fazzini opened the scoring for Italy with four minutes to go, but Raku responded quickly for Estonia to level at 1–1. Remedi then restored Italy’s lead with a late goal to close the period 2–1.

The second period remained tightly contested, with both teams missing opportunities. In the final minute, Remedi netted his second of the match, but Estonia immediately replied through Marmor. Despite the quick exchange, Italy maintained their 3–2 lead heading into the final frame.

In the third period, Italy took control of the match. Josep extended the lead, and Sciacca added the finishing touch to secure a 5–2 victory.

Group B
Switzerland win 8-2 against Latvia.
Switzerland delivered a commanding 8–2 win over Latvia in a high-scoring encounter. The opening period saw both teams trading goals, with Knöpfli and Elliot scoring for Switzerland, while Rubenis and Hohluks responded for Latvia to level the scores at 2–2.

In the second period, Switzerland pulled ahead with goals from Spacca and Hodel, taking control of the match and entering the final period with a 4–2 advantage. Latvia struggled to keep pace with the Swiss momentum.

The final period saw Switzerland shift into top gear, adding four unanswered goals. Elliot struck twice to complete his hat-trick, while Borer and Hodel joined in to seal an emphatic 8–2 victory.

Belarus win 5-3 against Moldova.
Belarus battled from behind to secure an impressive 5–3 victory over Moldova. The match started strong for Moldova, with Florea opening the scoring in the first period to take a 1-0 lead.

Sîrghi extended Moldova’s lead early in the second period, making it 2–0. Belarus responded through Kanstantsinau to cut the deficit, but a late strike by Vieru restored Moldova’s two-goal cushion heading into the final period at 3–1.

The third period saw Belarus launch a thrilling comeback, firing in four unanswered goals. Novikau, Ustsinovich, Hapon, and Ryabko each found the net, flipping the game on its head and sealing a dramatic 5–3 win 

Division B
Kazakhstan win 6-4 against Norway.
Kazakhstan secured a convincing 6–4 win over Norway in a fast-paced encounter. They stormed through the opening period with goals from Dering, Kurbanov, Kaizer, and Shevchuk to establish a commanding 4–1 lead. Norway’s only response came late in the period through Paulos.

The second period saw Norway stage a comeback with strikes from Skotty and Hellebust, narrowing the gap. However, Keizer responded with his second of the match, restoring Kazakhstan’s two-goal cushion at 5–3 by the end of the period.

Minbayev extended the lead early in the third, giving Kazakhstan breathing room at 6–3. Despite Norway’s late push, including a goal by Dynge, it wasn’t enough to overturn the deficit. Kazakhstan sealed the game with a solid 6–4 victory.

Romania win 6-2 against Malta.
Romania secured a commanding victory over Malta in a match that saw a slow start until Andrei’s goal for Romania broke the deadlock midway through the first period. Malta responded through Micallef, who equalised with just two minutes remaining in the opening period.

The second period was all about Romania’s Maci, who delivered a stunning performance with four goals to put his team firmly in control at 5–1. Malta struggled to cope with the attacking intensity and couldn’t find a way back into the game.

Schembri pulled one back for Malta in the final period, but it proved to be a mere consolation. Andrescu’s strike sealed Romania’s dominance, rounding off a well-deserved 6–2 victory.

Women
Portugal win 6-2 against Netherlands.
Portugal earned a strong 6–2 victory over the Netherlands after a tense opening that saw both teams fail to break the deadlock in the opening period, despite the high tempo and physical exchanges.

Inês finally opened the scoring midway through the second period to give Portugal a slender 1–0 lead heading into the final frame. The Netherlands continued to struggle in front of goal, unable to capitalise on their attacking efforts.

The third period was all Portugal, as Andreia and Mélissa added to the tally, with Flores netting twice in quick succession to extend the lead. Although the Netherlands responded with goals from Nancy and Jona, it wasn’t enough to stop Portugal from sealing a comfortable 6–2 win.

Switzerland win 7-6 against Italy on penalties, after a 3-3 draw.
Italy started strong, with goals from Ciccarelli and Vecchione giving them a 2–0 advantage. Switzerland responded in the final seconds of the first period through Flury to cut the deficit to 2–1.

The second period remained goalless, as both teams created chances but failed to convert. Italy held on to their narrow 2–1 lead heading into the final period.

Midway through the third period, Flury struck again for Switzerland to level the score at 2–2 and force extra time. Each side managed one goal in the added period, but neither could pull ahead. The game was ultimately decided by penalties, where Switzerland held their nerve to win 7–6 and snatch a dramatic victory
