Quarter-finals
Spain win 3-2 against Poland.
Spain edged out Poland in a thrilling encounter that saw the Spanish team take an early lead in the first period, courtesy of Pedro’s goal, followed by a strike from Suli Batis, giving them a 2-0 advantage. Poland’s effort through Gajda’s late goal reduced the deficit to 2-1 in the second period.
Suli Batis’s second goal of the game extended Spain’s lead to 3-1. Poland’s comeback attempt resulting in Gajda’s second goal midway through the third period was not enough, as Spain got the hard-fought victory at full time but good to get them into the next stage.
The match recorded three caution events, with Poland receiving two yellow cards and Spain recording one.
Portugal win 11-4 against Switzerland.
The Portuguese team exploded out of the gates, scoring five goals through Jordan’s brace, Pedro Mano, Pintado, and Pinhal. Switzerland’s Knöpfli scored a goal, but their disciplinary issues marred their performance, with a red card and four yellow cards in the first period alone.
Going into the second period with a 5-1 scoreline, Portugal continued their onslaught, scoring an additional three goals through Coimbra, Leo Martins, and Brilhante. Switzerland also added two goals courtesy of Knöpfli and Hodel. Portugal received a yellow card, but their advantage remained significant as they still enjoyed an 8:3 lead.
The third period saw Switzerland secure an additional goal, but Portugal increased their goal tally with three more goals through Pintado’s brace and Jordan,’s goal to seal their emphatic 11-4 victory and secure a spot in the semi-final.
Italy win 5-2 against Czechia.
Host Italy secured a convincing victory over Czechia in an exciting match. Italy’s Alla got the first goal of the match midway in the first period and Giordani’s strike doubled their advantage in the second period.
Going into the third period with a 2-0 lead, the Italian team increased their effort with Giordani completing his hat-trick and Sciaccia adding another goal, sealing the win for the hosts. Czechia’s late surge yielded two consolation goals from Kortvelyesi and Trampota, but it was too late.
Giordani’s outstanding performance earned him the spotlight and gave his team their crucial win a progress to the semi-final.
