Real Münster net eight to reach final four

Having both won their previous match, a win on Friday in Group A would be enough to see the victor seal a place in the 2022 World Winners Cup semi-finals.

Leo Martins burst down the pitch in an individual counter-attack to open the scoring after eight minutes of play, but that was as much as the German club could manage until late into the next period, when Metzler buried a free kick.

It was in the final 12 minutes that Münster really began to impose their superiority, as the Czech heads dropped as the Portuguese internationals Leo and Bê Martins each completed a brace, keeper Jose Carlos sent a bouncing shot through the defensive line, and Oba and Evgini wrapped up what turned out to be simple points for Mohagheghi’s men.

With a final score of 8-0, an imperious Real Münster secured their place in the final four of the 2022 World Winners Cup.

Giordani maintains Napoli BS 100% in last minute

In a very open Group D, Napoli BS and Canada BSC ended the matchday in Cagliari on Saturday with a thrilling tie.

Napoli were many people’s favourites ahead of the match but Canada drew first blood as US international Rezende shimmied into space to smash in the opening goal.

Another American, Tanner Akol, powered in the second straight from kick-off, but a Giordani double finally got Napoli on the scoresheet. Goyo’s goal meant that the Canadians had a slim lead going into the final period, where Rezende fired in his second, only to see Zurlo pull one back immediately from kick-off.

The Italians suddenly burst into life in the final 12 minutes, as Zurlo hit a second spinning volley, while Sciacca and Wellington scored at either end to keep the score tight at 5-5.

The winner came in spectacular style as Azzurri international Giordani was set up by the chest of Zurlo to smash in the winner with just two seconds on the clock.

Husty defeat Rostocker but Germans claim knockout place

BSC Husty needed to win by four goals against their German opponents on Saturday, while any other result would send Rostocker Robben through as both teams played for the first place in Group C.

Štefan Sivoň’s goal three minutes into the game set the difference between both sides at the end of the first period.

Halfway into the second, Tomas Mrva found the back of the net making the Slovakians believe that qualification was possible, but one minute later Madsen scored leaving BSC Husty in need of three goals.

Their mission became practically impossible with Baaske’s equaliser, and 23 seconds before the final whistle, Domi scored the goal of honour that gave BSC Husty three points that were not enough to take Rostocker Robben’s place in the semi-finals.

Marseille BT hand third defeat to Telavi BSC

Marseille BT were looking to react to the defeat against Napoli BS as they faced a Telavi BSC side still trying to win their first points.

In the first period, Aness Gharbi was the only one able to find the way into the back of the net after ten minutes were played, giving the French the advantage.

Kylian Varrel stole the show in the second period scoring four goals to help Marseille lead 6-2 going into the final period, as Giorgi and Giga scored Telavi’s goals.

Giga would net a brace before Bertacca, goalkeeper Carpita and Varrel’s fifth goal set the final result in 9-3 for the French team.

Napoli Patron take simple win against Naxos BS

In Group B, these two teams had been defeated by the imperious Salvadorians La Pirraya, who had already claimed the place in the semi-finals, but finishing places were still up for grabs.

Azerbaijan star Nazarov got the match underway for Napoli Patron against Italian opponents Naxos midway through the first period.

Diakakis Vlachos then put away a goal either side of the second break, and in the last period Bounas made it four to seal a first win for the Greek side.

The World Winners Cup 2022 will be played from 14 to 18 September, on the Italian island of Sardinia, at the Poetto beach in Cagliari.
