Barra de Santiago edge Lazo Apego to go top

Lazo Apego had downed each of their opponents so far in Cagliari, but El Salvador’s Barra de Santiago had impressed in their first match.

Just a minute and a half had passed by the time Lesly hit a loose ball right into the top corner for the opener, and she had doubled her tally by the time the first whistle sounded, goal number four for the number 10 at the World Winners Cup.

Another prolific goal scoring found the net in the second period though, as Japanese captain Saki rifled in a signature bicycle kick to keep the match tight.

Irma reestablished the two-goal cushion at the beginning of the third period, and this time a second from Saki – her fifth of the campaign taking her into the lead in the scoring charts – wasn’t enough to salvage points for Lazo Apego, as Barra de Santiago draw level with them on six points.

Privitera’s brace leads FBA to their first win

Still looking for their first points in the competition, FC10 Ladies and FBA Beach Soccer stepped on the sands of the Cagliari Beach Arena for the second women’s match of the day.

The Polish took the lead through Ścisłowska but a free-kick by Melania Pisa equalised the match before the first break.

The second period served for FBA to turn the result around, first with a header by Ponzini on the rebound to a shot by Privitera, who would herself score the third for the Italians with two minutes to go in the second period.

Privitera showed her perseverance scoring FBA’s fourth two minutes into the third period, and even though Ścisłowska got the brace two minutes before the end, FBA Beach Soccer held on to the 4-2 win to claim their first three points in the competition.
