The vital FIFA Beach Soccer World Cup assistants attended a meet and greet event on Monday.
The majority of the volunteers who will help make the FIFA Beach Soccer World Cup 2017 in the Bahamas a success visited the venue in Nassau for the first time on Monday ahead of the showpiece event.
Close to 200 Bahamians – many of them young students – will offer their services and expertise as the country’s capital seeks to put on the best FIFA Beach Soccer World Cup to date.
Ranging in ages from 18 to 45, volunteers will contribute to the smooth running off all areas of the competition, including media, hospitality and team liaison services, ready to offer the warm Bahamian welcome the country is synonymous with.
Following the volunteers’ first visit to the National Beach Soccer Arena at Malcolm Park, which included a meet and greet as well as photo opportunities, Bahamas Football Association President Anton Sealey remarked: “Volunteers are essential to the running of an event of this magnitude.
“Without the volunteers, we certainly wouldn’t be able to execute an event of the quality that we expect and anticipate. In short, volunteers are critical to the success of this event.”
LOC Volunteer Coordinator Diondra Rollins added: “This experience is going to be a great, dynamic one. The volunteers are all looking forward to the event and, most of all, they will gain friendships as well as a world-class understanding of both the event and other cultures.
“They are engaged and focused to push forward, and the FIFA Beach Soccer World Cup is something we’ve been looking forward to for several months. Excitement has been building for months now, we’ve had volunteers drives at the University of the Bahamas because we wanted to incorporate the youth of the nation and that’s what we’re doing.
“At this event in particular, you will see more of our first and second year students, they will be our front line staff as ushers or in VIP areas, at the hotels as frontline staff, and working with media.”
