USA and El Salvador fly to World Cup 2013!

Northern Americans and Cuscatleco upset Costa Rica and Mexico to become the CONCACAF representatives in Tahiti

USA, back to the World Cup!!

After three consecutive editions being closed the doors to the FIFA Beach Soccer World Cup, the USA National Beach Soccer team wrote a new glorious page in their history, advancing to the final of the FIFA Beach Soccer World Cup ? CONCACAF Qualifier Bahamas, and consequently qualifying for the global showpiece to be held in Papeete next September. Their historic comeback today over Costa Rica is the story of self-belief, enthusiastic struggle, and determination.

After their stunning win over El Salvador to top group C yesterday, the Costa Rican saw Tahiti closer than ever, and they even stepped into the game with the idea of sealing their way back to the World Cup. Pacheco and Lopez swept the Ticos 0-2 ahead, and things seemed pretty much under control for Zúñiga?s side. But Perera could pull one goal back for the USA before first time was over, and that light the Northern American?s souls.

Three more goals in the second leg absolutely orbited Eddie Soto?s lads, and insufflated extra confidence and stamina to each player. Costa Rica was unable to find the roads to the USA nets, and, when they did, goalkeeper Christopher Toth brilliantly denied any of their attempts.

Mendoza fired the 4-3 home for Costa Rica with a left-foot missile, and that brought on some breath-taking last minutes in Nassau. Necessarily after that hit, the Ticos put the USA?s box into siege, but could never trespass the guard set up by Toth and his defenders again. With the final whistle, the United States become the 12th team to book a World Cup berth, and go back to the biggest Beach Soccer festival since their last appearance in Rio de Janeiro 2007.

Goals: 0-1: Pacheco, min. 10 (1); 0-2: López, min. 0 (1); 1-2: Perera, min. 0 (1); 2-2: Farberoff, min. 9 (2); 3-2: Valentine, min. 8 (2); 4-2: Chimienti, min. 6 (2); 4-3: Mendoza, min. 7 (3);

Dramatic semifinal gets El Salvador to Tahiti!

With the two finalist of last continental showdown squaring off in semifinals of this FIFA Beach Soccer World Cup 2013 ? CONCACAF Qualifier Bahamas, it was easy to foresee a thrilling spectacle. But what happened today in Malcom?s Park was one of these Beach Soccer episodes one can hardly forget. El Salvador seized the last of the tickets to Tahiti after a breathtaking last minutes of the game and a dramatic penalty kick shootout, thus dethroning defending kings Mexico.

Jorge Rodríguez opened the score for Azteca ahead 8 minutes into first half, and the Cuscatleco had to wait until the second period to balance things. The score did not move again until the third leg, and things were to get busy during that last stage. Torres swept his side ahead and the lead would remain until the last two minutes of the game. Minutes were dangerously ticking down for La Tri when Angel Rodríguez netted the 2-2, only to see, though, Frank bagging a new advantage immediately afterwards.

Mexico was helplessly trying a new equalizer that would help them keep in the fight for the World Cup berth, and, when it seemed impossible, Morgan Plata sent the game to the extra time. Score remain unaltered during the supplementary three minutes, and penalty kicks were the only way left to sort who was to clinch the last ticket to the FIFA Beach Soccer World Cup 2013.

Villalobos was the first one to take his attempt, which found a terrific reply by Salvadoran goalkeeper, Herbert Ramos. Torres had the illusions of a whole country in his right food, and he did not miss the chance to give his team, and his nationm a great joy, sealing the go-through to the final of the tournament and, more importantly, a place among the elite in Tahiti.

Goals: 1-0: J- Rodríguez, min. 4 (1); 1-1: Agustín, min. 2 (2); 1-2: Torres, min. 9 (3); 2-2: A. Rodríguez, min. 2 (3); 2-3: Frank, min. 2 (3); 3-3: Plata, min. 3 (3)

Penalty kick shootout: Villalobos, Herbert saves; Torres, in.

Despite the Puerto Ricans stepped ahead in the score, with Ortiz?s opener, a 4-0 run by the Jamaicans immediately afterwards almost finished the game.

After that moment, Price?s team managed to keep a safe distance in the score at all time, thus closing their spell in this FIFA Beach Soccer Qualifier with their first win.
