The Verde-Amarela claim the Copa Sudamericana Beach Soccer Recife 2015 with a beach soccer showdown against the Pynandi
The 12-2 win for Brazil over Paraguay was exactly the opposite of what their earlier match was like. The Brazilians took the early lead, which was not common for them over the course of the week, and then they began to pile on goals, looking like the World Champions that they are. It was the best that the Green and Yellow looked all week and they picked the perfect time, or the worst time if you are a Paraguayan aficionado, to show what they are capable of. The Albirroja were the best team in the round robin stage and continued to play tough and with their characteristic humility, but they could not get past the Brazilian power and speed in this match. The win was a bit of revenge for losing to Paraguay in the first stage, leaving them in second place, but when in mattered, they rebounded and finish the tournament in 1st place. The loss was deflating for Paraguay but they had an excellent tournament and finished with the lone loss, albeit in the final. Both teams are gearing up for the FIFA Beach Soccer World Cup Portugal 2015 – CONMEBOL Qualifier and will most likely see each other again very soon.
Much to the delight of the full-capacity crowd, Brazil came out with a furious pace in the first period and scored in the first minute on a great individual effort from Rodrigo. Paraguay had defeated the Brazilians earlier in the week, in arguably the best game of the tournament, an 8-7 overtime cracker, so they had the confidence and know-how to settle down and come from behind against the beach soccer giants. However, the Verde-Amarela made sure they would not make things easy for their opponent and scored almost at will at the end of the period, against the normally stout White and Reds’ defense, ending the frame up 4-0. The Paraguayans looked to change their fortunes and began the middle frame taking more chances and having better looks at goal but the Canarinho class could not be denied and things began to look like the first period, with Brazil netting three back-to-back-to-back goals in the span of 2 minutes to go up 7-0. The Brazilians added to their tally and took the commanding 10-0 leading into the third period.
Paraguay had everything to do to make the match a little closer and they did just that, beginning by scoring on a long distance direct kick that took an amazing bounce to put the score at 10-1 for Brazil. The belief in Paraguay went up a tick after they scored again, in the same minute, to show their heart, getting to within 10-2. The Brazilians suddenly found themselves on their heels, however their big first periods afforded them the chance to breathe a little easier. The Canarinho did not seem happy with giving up the two quick goals and responded with another of their own, the third of the day for Datinha, leaving the score at 11-2. The White and Reds stayed on the attack and looked like the team from earlier in the week, but even that could not stop Brazil from tacking on more goals, and when the final buzzer sounded, the score was 12-2 for Brazil.
The Brazilian National side gave this Copa Sudamericana Beach Soccer Recife 2015 a very special closure, with a truly emotional gesture. The team took his former teammate Wagner, a twice FIFA Beach Soccer World Champion who had an car accident in 2010 and who is now in a wheel chair, and had him receiving the Champions Cup and joining the team’s celebration. Great gestures of a great team…
