Ahead of the FIFA Beach Soccer World Cup, UAE picked up two wins on home sand.
Following their run to the AFC Beach Soccer Championship final in Malaysia, the UAE have wasted little time in preparing for their FIFA Beach Soccer World Cup campaign – picking up two wins against Hungary this week.
Mohamed Abbas’ men fell just short in Kuala Terengganu – going down against Iran in the final – but claimed back-to-back victories against Hungary on home soil on Tuesday and Wednesday.
Ali Mohamadi and Hisham Montaser registered a brace each as the hosts won 4-1 in the first of their meetings – Viktor Fekete on target for Hungary – before the second clash a day later.
Fekete scored again on Wednesday, along with team-mate Richard Patocs, but UAE still proved too strong, with Ahmed Khalaf scoring twice alongside further goals from Mohamed Moftah and Ali Karim.
UAE will go up against world champions Portugal in the Bahamas as well as Paraguay and Panama in Group C.
