Friendly wins over Qatar helped UAE move 10th in the world rankings for April.
UAE were rewarded for their back-to-back friendly wins against Qatar with a top-10 place in April’s BSWW Overall World Ranking presented by Power Horse.
The Gulf nation beat their near-neighbours 8-1 and 5-3 early in the month as coach Gustavo ‘Guga’ Zloccowick’s men continued Asian qualification preparations ahead of the FIFA Beach Soccer World Cup in the Bahamas next year.
With the Asian Championship also on the horizon in 2017, Guga said last month that a top-10 place needed to become a regular feature in his side’s development – an accomplishment achieved in April as they moved 10th at Paraguay’s expense.
The South American nation slip below neighbours Argentina into 12th although the remainder of the top 10 is unchanged.
Switzerland stay sixth after their wins against the Bahamas while fellow Europeans Hungary and Belarus jumped up to 19th and 22nd respectively.
Ukraine and Senegal swap places in 14th and 15th with Qatar among the bigger movers – moving four places to 61st – despite their defeats to UAE.
Next month’s rankings update could see changes for Portugal, Spain, England and the returning Cape Verde after the Sal Beach Soccer Cup last weekend.
Winners Portugal can close to the gap to ranking toppers Russia following victory in Sal as both sides prepare for the Euro Beach Soccer League stages across July and August.
