The Asunción based side takes Puerta del Lago’s crown following a win over Aregüeña in the final
Led by the core of the National Team, Universidad Autonoma de Asunción seized Puerta del Lago’s throne yesterday, following a consistent 8-4 win over Aregüeña in the final of the Paraguayan National Beach Soccer Championship.
The goals by Ojeda (3), Barreto (2), Morán (2) and Carballo were too much to cope with for Aregüeña, who still remain as the most-crowned side in Paraguay, with three National Championships in their records.
Universidad Autonoma’s win means the first ever crown seized for an Asunción side in the ninth editions of the Paraguayan National Championship.
Pedro Morán, with 19 goals, was the competition’s top scorer, followed by team-mate Edgardo Barreto (11) and San Bernardino’s Ariel Roa (11). Albirroja goalkeeper Rolando Saul Gonzales was also considered the best under the posts.
