U20 Euro Beach Soccer Cup underway in Viareggio

An impressive 54 goals light up four matches on Matchday 1


On the opening day of the U20 Euro Beach Soccer Cup 2026 in Viareggio, Czechia edged England in a narrow contest, while Spain and Portugal delivered dominant performances against Belgium and England respectively, and Italy rounded off the action with a convincing victory over Belgium.

Czechia win 5-4 against England
A closely contested opening period saw both sides create chances, with Hála giving Czechia an early lead. England responded midway through the period through Biggs to level the score at 1–1 heading into the first break.

England took control early in the second period as Flood struck a brilliant goal to put his side ahead. However, Czechia responded strongly late in the period, with goals from Schalek and Bureš turning the game around to give them a 3–2 lead.

Czechia extended their advantage in the third period through Šilhavý and Tuháček to move 5–2 ahead. England pushed for a comeback, with Cox scoring twice late on, but Czechia held firm to secure a narrow 5–4 victory.

Spain win 11-1 against Belgium
Belgium made a bright start, scoring within the opening minute to take an early lead. Spain responded emphatically, with goals from Ramy and Aitor Mato, along with a brace from Jairo, turning the game around and giving them a commanding 4–1 lead at the first break.

Spain continued their dominance in the second period, with Luisito and Aitor Mato adding to the tally to extend the advantage to 6–1, while Belgium struggled to find a way back into the contest.

In the final period, Spain ran riot as Pepe struck twice, while Luisito and Ramy completed their braces and Aitor Mato secured his hat-trick, sealing an emphatic 11–1 victory.

Portugal win 17-3 against England
Portugal made a blistering start, racing into a 4–0 lead in the opening period through goals from Pola, Lourenço, and a brace from Loureiro to take full control early on.

The dominance continued in the second period as Portugal added six more goals to extend their lead. England managed to respond with an own goal in their favour and a strike from Brihmani, but still trailed heavily at 11–2 heading into the final period.

Portugal maintained their relentless attacking display in the third period, benefiting from an own goal and adding six more goals to complete a commanding performance. Dyer grabbed a late consolation for England, but Portugal secured a resounding 17–3 victory.

Italy win 10-3 against Belgium
Italy took early control in the opening period, with Santini scoring twice to give his side a 2–0 lead before Tilly pulled one back for Belgium to make it 2–1 at the break.

The Italians extended their advantage early in the second period as Santini completed his hat-trick, while Sannibale added another to make it 4–1. Boon responded for Belgium, but Reggio restored Italy’s cushion, sending them into the final period with a 5–2 lead.

Italy sealed the result in style in the third period, adding five more goals through Magnolia, Marini, Sirianni, Sannibale, and Reggio. Bette scored a late consolation for Belgium, but Italy secured a convincing 10–3 victory.
