Tahiti beat Switzerland in the first of the three friendly matches to be played during this week (4-3)
The Tahiti National Beach Soccer National Team had the best possible start to this year leading up to the FIFA Beach Soccer World Cup they are hosting in Papeete next September 2013. The match was played at the sands which will become the Official Training pitch by the Stade Toa’Ta in the upcoming World Cup, and crowd filled its stands to enjoy a thrilling battle. The 1500 spectators saw how, after a goalless first period, both teams exchanged strokes to build up a really amusing Beach Soccer Game.
Second period was mainly controlled by the European side, with Meier opening the score and Spacca unbalancing things back for the 2-1 after Zaveroni’s equalizer. The third period, though, meant the reaction by the hosts, whose 3-0 run changed things drastically. Zaveroni, Bennet and Izal secured a two goal gap that ended up meaning the the victory for the Oceania kings, as the reply by the Swiss went no further than Pichierri’s 4-3.
Next matches between both sides are to come this Friday and Saturday, October 5th and 6th.
