2012 champions Lokomotiv Moscow had a sweet start in this 2017 edition of the Mundialito de Clubes Beach Soccer, taking place at Vargem-Grande Paulista (São Paulo). The Russian side had a huge challenge in the competition’s opener, taking on Portuguese giants Sporting Clube, but Leonov’s lads perfectly handled the situation to earn the first points.
First goal took its time. Both sides were binging up a fierce fight, although it was Lokomotiv the ones with the best goal chances. The Russian side was fielding more offensive talent, and that was progressively giving its results.
With one minute to go, Dejan Stankovic openened the score for the Muscovite. Just seconds afterwards, a perfectly-executed penalty kick by captain Anton Shkarin doubled Loko’s advantage, making it 2-0 at the end of first half.
Lokomotiv’s inspiration did not flag, with Nelito taking the baton. Two missiles from the distance by the Brazilian international pushed his side 4-0 ahead in the blink of an eye, and things began looking very difficult for the Lisbon Leões…
Before the end of the period, Ozu added with the 5th for his side, virtually sealing the win for Loko.
Despite Duarte pulled one back for the Portuguese midway half third period, things were absolutely under control for the Russian side, who scored again to restore the 5-goal gap and cruise to their first win in the competition.

The helpless Argentinean side could not find the way to stop the offensive prowess of their opponent, and the break was the only relief they got.
After that period, Flamengo geared down, sat back and relaxed, focusing on keeping everything under control. Paraguay’s striker Pedro Morán swept Corinthians ahead in the first period, with Artur Paporotniy doubling the advantage in the second. That advantage would become the difference-maker for the Paulista side, as Botafogo would immediately react, with Bernardo Botelho’s hit.
