The competition will begin in Nazaré tomorrow when Ukraine meet Germany in the opening match
Beach soccer is back in Nazaré! It’s been a long and painful wait for everyone, with lots of uncertainty and tension, but together, we made it…
This year’s Euro Beach Soccer League will be contended on a much smaller scale following the impact of Covid-19, which meant that many teams could not travel.
Onsite, Beach Soccer World Wide and the Local Organising Committee are taking the situation very seriously with many extra precautions being taken to make sure that everyone involved in the tournament is as safe as possible.
Five Division A national teams, hosts Portugal, France, Germany, Switzerland and Ukraine, will face each other in a Round Robin to decide who will claim the 2020 title. Each team will play each other once over the space of five matchdays with two games per day.
Each team will have a rest day, with Switzerland not playing on Matchday 1. Ukraine will sit out on the second day, Portugal on the third, France on the fourth and Germany on the final day.
The opening match will see Ukraine and Germany kick the event off in Nazaré on Wednesday 2 September at 4pm local time, while reigning champions Portugal will play France later at 5:30pm local time.
Switzerland will play their first match against France on Thursday. Ten games will be played in total, with the final matches on Sunday seeing Ukraine take on France, followed by Portugal v Switzerland, the final match of the tournament in which the stakes will surely be high.
All the matches will be available to watch at beachsoccer.com/live – don’t miss them!
