The two Asian National Selections battled for supremacy in Bangkok, Thailand on the 25th and 27th of December
Qatar was invited to Thailand to train and participate in two stellar exhibition matches against the hosts, Thailand, in Bangkok on December 25th and 27th. The venue was the Sports Authority of Thailand Beach Soccer Training Camp and the teams both enjoyed the cracking facilities and even better action on the sand itself. Both sides have scrappy teams within the AFC region, and are well respected already, but these training sessions are helping to bring in the new year with a bang, as they will still look to qualify for the FIFA Beach Soccer World Cup Bahamas 2017, as well as many other regional cups and tournaments, which will boost their standings in the Confederation as well as the BSWW Overall World Ranking Presented by Power Horse.
The first of the two friendles took place on Christmas day and it was the War Elephants who earned the first victory, by a score of 5-3. The tight match was decided by two goals from Na Nan, which helped to build a big enough lead to hold off a comeback from the Maroon. The Qatari side attempted to regain their strength and energy in the second match, on the 27th, but they once again were kept at bay by the Thais, 5-1. Na Nan of Thailand was once again the top-scorer as he netted another two goals, this time the first and the last goal, which ended up being enough to counter the one goal from the Qatar squad.
Beach soccer does not have a dedicated off-season, as there is always sand and sun somewhere in the world and that means that not only these two AFC sides are practicing and playing, but all across the globe, beach soccer teams are gearing up for the new year and are excited for the upcoming opportunities to prove themselves in their respective areas and the world. www.beachsoccer.com will have all the news and coverage as it becomes available.
