Tahiti impress once again in second victory in Honiara

The second day of action took place in the OFC Beach Soccer Men’s Nations Cup 2024, as hosts Solomon Islands picked up their first victory

Tahiti win 10-1 against Fiji.
Following an opening day victory in the OFC Beach Soccer Men’s Nations Cup 2024, Tahiti looked to secure yet another victory as they took on Fiji, who were eager to capture their first win of the competition.

Despite playing in an intense match against Solomon Islands the day before, it didn’t phase the Tahiti side as they asserted their dominance from the outset, finding the back of the net on four occasions in the first period with strikes from Terorotua and Tinirauarii, as well as a Paama brace.

Tahiti extended their advantage in the second period as Tinirauarii found his second goal of the fixture and Chan Kat and Tepa got their names on the scoresheet, meaning Fiji had a steep hill to climb in the third period.

It was more of the same from the Tiki Toa in the final 12 minutes, as they reached double digits as Tetauira, Chan Kat and Raimana Li Fung Kuee were all on target. Catarogo scored Fiji’s only goal of the match in the final minutes, but it was the Tahitians who picked up yet another win.

Solomon Islands win 17-4 against Papua New Guinea.
Hosts Solomon Islands faced Papua New Guinea on the second day in Honiara, as the host nation were looking for a first victory of the competition and Papua New Guinea looked to build on their win against Fiji.

Amasia’s penalty broke the deadlock in the match, as goals from Nawo, Reginald and Labong meant Solomon Islands took a 4-0, but Samuel pulled a goal back for Papua New Guinea before the period came to a close.

It was an action-packed second period with nine goals scored, as Solomon Islands significantly increased their lead to eight with the score sitting at 11-3 with one period to play.

Solomon Islands made sure of their first victory of the competition in the last period as they found the net multiple times, Reginald and Fa’ari completed their hat-tricks, and the match finished 17-4.
