The Copa Lagos will kick off at 15:30 local time on Friday
The much-anticipated return of the Copa Lagos is almost here!
Friday will see the eight-team tournament kick off on the Nigerian coast, after taking a year off in 2018.
Four national sides will compete in the 2019 event, as England, Brazil and Senegal travel from three different continents to take on hosts Nigeria in the city of Lagos.
The eighth edition of the Copa Lagos will also see four Nigerian clubs battle in a separate group, and it is they who will kick off the action at 15:30 local time, when Kebbi BSC go up against Sunset Sports.
The other two sides, Gidi Sharks and Pepsi Football Academy, will play the next fixture, and after that, some of the world’s biggest beach soccer stars get the international matches off the mark.
World champions Brazil will play African champions Senegal, and the final match of the day will see hosts Nigeria face their first test against the Three Lions.
The winner will be crowned on Sunday after each side has played each other in a Round Robin system.
With the FIFA Beach Soccer World Cup getting closer, the competition in Nigeria will be a perfect opportunity for the three sides that will be attending the global showdown to build confidence and hone tactics.
