With a week to go, find out which players are heading to the men’s and women’s events.
The Beach Soccer Mundialito and Euro Beach Soccer Cup Mundialito both get under way in a week’s time with most of the squads fully confirmed ahead of the trip to Cascais, Portugal.
One of the most prestigious events in the beach soccer calendar, the men’s Mundialito competition will this year be joined by the women’s Euro Beach Soccer Cup, with games running from Friday, July 29th until Sunday, July 31st.
Traditional competition heavyweights Portugal and Brazil will be many people’s tips to be there or thereabouts this year – the former eager to defend their title against the tournament’s most successful side – while the home crowd will also want to see their female side impress in the women’s event.
Legendary Portugal coach Mario Narciso will take charge of the women’s team as they go up against Spain and the Netherlands in Group A while Switzerland, England and Greece make up Group B.
The male competition will operate on a round robin format and decided via a league table but Sunday represents finals day for the women, including the fifth-place and third-place play-offs as well as the final.
Results, standings and fixtures from both the men’s and women’s competitions will be available via the website throughout the three days.
