Eight teams qualify for the Polish beach soccer league as the Cup competition finishes
The Polish Cup was contested over the weekend as many of the world’s top beach soccer players headed to Gdansk to make their returns to the sand after the Coronavirus outbreak.
SAP (Sopocka Akademia Pilkarska), with the assistance of Portuguese stars twins Be and Leo Martins as well as Andre Lourenco, won the final against Boca Gdansk by six goals to four.
Even with their Swiss and Spanish firepower in the form of goalkeeper Eliott, and La Roja’s Antonio and Edu Suarez, Boca Gdansk could only manage second but along with all of the top eight finishing teams in the Cup, they will now play in the Polish league.
The 2019 Euro Winners Cup finalists KP Lodz, bolstered by German captain Cristian Biermann, were unable to claim their seventh Polish Cup and finished in third.
The MVP of the tournament was Karim Madani (SAP), the best goalkeeper award went to Patryk Sobczak (Boca Gdansk) and the title of the top scorer went to Artur Poplawski (TONIO Team Sosnowiec) who 15 goals.
The men’s Polish championship will be played in a month’s time between 14 and 16 August, also in Gdansk.
