Last year’s finalists Viareggio and Artur Music are into the Nazare last 16.
Group A
Last year’s runners-up Artur Music remain on course for a run deep into this year’s competition after finishing top of Group A with an 8-2 win against Glomminge.
Following their near-miss in 2016, the Ukrainians have been in impressive form so far in Nazare and that continued as Oleg Zborovskyi hit four goals to help Artur Music into a 6-0 lead at the first interval.
Emil Borjesson’s goal for the Swedish club stopped the rot but Zborovksyi was on target once more along with a surprising brace from goalkeeper Vitalii Sydorenko and a further strike from Egor Eremeev.
Nazare representatives ACD O Sotao clinched a dramatic 6-5 win against FC Valicecar with just five seconds to play. Valicecar led 2-0 at the interval thanks to goals from Oleg Mjassosedov and Stepan Semilo but, in a thrilling contest, Sotao battled back as a hat-trick from Flavio Carmo took the sides to the brink of extra time.
Then, with five seconds to play, Carmo grabbed a fourth to win the game with an angled header from close range.
Group B
Lokomotiv’s 5-1 win over CS Djoker Chisinau safely returned them to the top of Group B as the Russians progressed to the knockout stages in first.
Viareggio had occupied top spot prior to Lokomotiv’s match but goals from Egor Shaikov, Yury Gorchinsky, Nikolai Kryshanov, Fernando and Boris Nikonorov thwarted any Djoker hopes of an upset.
Andrei Negara registered what proved to be a consolation late in the second frame. Defending champions Viareggio were made to settle for second spot in Group B despite a comprehensive 7-3 win against LSA Perwez BS.
Perwez largely matched their opponents in the early stages, hat-trick scorer Tiago Batalha causing the holders problems. But Gabriele Gori’s four goals helped Viareggio cut loose, with goalkeeper Andrea Carpita also getting in on the act with a fine strike from distance.
Group C
Dinamo Batumi wrapped up first place in Group C as Michele Di Palma’s hat-trick helped ensure a 7-2 win against Silesia BS St Neots.
Daro Dove and Patryk Taraszowski were on target for Silesia in the first and the third period respectively but Batumi had too much going forward, with Italy international proving a handful.
Carlos Millan, Cristian Martinez Garcia and Llorenc Gomez were also on the scoresheet for the group winners who advance to the next round in fine form. Lazio’s 7-4 win against Arman of Kazakhstan ensures them second place in the group and a spot in the next round.
Two goals each from Roberto Pasquale and Rui Mota proved crucial in getting past Arman in a match that would ultimately decide who finished second behind winners Batumi.
Group D
Seferihisar Cittaslow ensured an unbeaten group stage and qualification for the knockout phase as they eased past ACS West Deva 7-3.
West Deva found the net once in each period but braces from Ihar Bryshtel, Volkan Yesilirmak and Baris Terzioglu ensured the Turkish side their third win of the group.
BSC Griffin finish the group in second after narrowly getting past MFC Spartak 2-1 thanks to an Oleksii Ilijchov winner. Kaloyan Tsvetkov cancelled out Volodymir Hladchenko’s opener early in the second period but, six minutes into the final frame, Ilijchov settled the contest with a smart finish.
Group E
Sporting CP made no mistake against Betuws BS as they wrapped up progression with a 5-3 success.
Ferdy Kaleveld had given the Dutch side the lead with just three seconds on the clock and, while he and Matthijs van Gessel provided resistance in the second frame, it proved insufficient.
Instead Noel Ott bagged twice more while Madjer, Duarte Vivo and Antonio Hernandez also registered. BSC Spartak finished a point adrift of Sporting in second after they capped their group stage with a 6-0 win against RTU of Latvia.
Roman Pachev grabbed a hat-trick while Edu Suarez was on target twice, with Ruslan Amanov the other Spartak man to register.
Group F
SC Braga confirmed their last 16 spot with a 10-0 win against Winti Panthers. A side laden with international talent, Braga wasted little time as Bruno Xavier broke the deadlock two minutes into the contest.
Captain Bruno Torres was next on target before Braga cut loose in the final period with goals from Bokinha, Jordan Santos (2), Mauricinho and Jose Maria.
As Panthers struggled for momentum, Fabio Denz, Mauricinho and Bruno Xavier added extra gloss to a comfortable win late on.
A late brace from Pedro Acosta helped CD Bala Azul join Braga in the next round after a 2-1 win against Ibbenburener.
Germany international Valon Beqiri cancelled out Chiky Ardil’s opener to send the sides into the final frame level at 1-1.
However, Pedro struck twice in the last five minutes as Bala Azul ended in second place.
Group G
Former champions BSC Kristall booked their spot in the last 16 with a comprehensive 7-1 win against Clube Desportivo Nacional.
The Russian side surrendered their title in Catania last year but moved into the next stage with a bang as Rodrigo scored twice along with further goals from Datinha, Dmitrii Shishin, Yury Krasheninnikov, Artur Paporotnyi and Dejan Stankovic.
Sergio Rodrigues’ netted a late consolation from a set-piece as the Portuguese side bow out after a decent campaign.
Cadiz FC Sotelo claimed their second win of the Euro Winners Cup in their final game as they beat Atlas A.O 7-3.
The Spanish side breezed into a 5-0 lead before Atlas got on the scoresheet as Alejandro Del Amor, Venildo, Ezequiel, Javier Torres and Christian Torres laid the foundations for a comfortable win.
Juanma and Ezequiel then added one more each in the final frame.
Group H
CSKA wrapped up a perfect Group H campaign by coming from behind to beat Jaszfenyszaru GWP Cservy 3-1.
Marian Maciuca had threatened to spring a surprise for the Hungarian side when he broke the deadlock midway through the second period but Mikhail Semenov swiftly restored parity before striking again soon after.
Abbas Zizo then put through his own net to end any uncertainty as CSKA move into the last 16 in good form. BSC Bate Borisov rounded off their Euro Winners Cup group campaign with a narrow 5-4 win over KP Lodz to progress.
In a tight match, Vladislav Aksenov’s hat-trick proved decisive against fourth-placed Lodz.
Group I
FC Delta will head into the last 16 of the Euro Winners Cup off the back of a 100 per cent campaign in Group I after defeating Grande Motte Pyramide BS 7-3.
The Russian side have impressed so far in the competition and, despite resistance from their French opponents, proved too strong once more. Rangler Yano Brian and Andrei Pankratov grabbed braces as Delta eased into the next stage.
Grembach Lodz earlier tied up second place in their Group I finale with a 5-3 against Falfala Kfar Qassem. Goals from Witold Ziober and Andre sent the sides in level at 1-1 after 12 minutes only for Ziober to strike again in the second frame to ensure a slender advantage.
