Senegal and Côte d’Ivoire will battle for the cup in Durban!

Hosts South Africa and Nigeria will square off for the third place of the Power Horse Beach Soccer African Trophy Durban 2015

Morocco storm past Seychelles to fight for 5th place

Morocco earned their right to fight for the fifth place in the Power Horse Beach Soccer African Trophy Durban 2015 following a stout win over Seychelles. The Lions of the Atlas had their experience prevail in the game and managed to disarm the spirited play by the Seychelles National Team.

Despite Moufakir swept the Moroccans ahead rather soon, Seychelles seemed able to contain the offensive power of the Lions of the Atlas. The score did not move again, and the cheeky Pirates even sieged the Moroccan goal at some point. So to prevent any latter upset, Nassim and El Karkouri widened the gap, with two goals before second period was over. Three more hits by the end of the game rounded a loud score that may not be fair with the Seychellois merits, but speaks clearly of the will and determination of Morocco, who after their defeat yesterday does not want to lose a single match here in Durban.

With the final whistle, the Moroccan National side restores their confidence and gets ready for the battle against Mozambique for the fifth place in the competition. Seychelles, in turn, need to take this match as an experience-gainer, and use it to keep growing in the International beach soccer stage.

Goals: 0-1: Moufakir, min. 8 (1); 0-2: Nassim, min. 2 (2); 0-3: El Karkouri, min. 1 (2); 0-4: El Karkouri, min. 2 (3); 0-5: Nassim, min. 2 (3); 0-6, El Mahrouk, min. 1 (3)

Mozambique upset Ghana and will battle for 5th

Mozambique will fight for the fifth place of this Power Horse Beach Soccer African Trophy after coming from behind and edging Ghana today. Despite getting into the third period down in the score, the Mambas brought on a terrific effort to turn the game around, and merited a win that will have them playing for their best records ever in beach soccer.

Before kick-off, it was really difficult to anticipate who was going to earn the right to fight for the 5th place in the competition, and things did not change after the ball began flying. The game remained tightly balanced from beginning to end, and any little thing could make the difference. After a goalless first period, Sema swept Ghana ahead with the opener only seconds into the second frame, and the 0-1 for the Black Stars remained until midway third period.

At that moment, Mozambique reacted, and turned the score around to command the game. In just three minutes, Sidónio and Manoco put the Mambas ahead, leaving the Ghanaians helpless. The Black Starts tried and tried, but Mozambique perfectly managed to close all doors and secure their berth in the match for the fifth place, where they will take on Morocco.

Goals: 0-1: Sema, min. 11 (2); 1-1: Sidónio, min. 9 (3); 2-1: Manoco min. 6 (3)

Last minute winner gets Senegal into the final

Senegal will fight for the cup in this Power Horse Beach Soccer African Trophy Durban 2015, following a last-minute win over Nigeria. The Senegalese side seem to have found the formula to prevail in their all-power clashes against the Nigerians. Even an outstanding performance by Tale today, with four goals, was not enough for the Sand Eagles, who saw the Lions of Teranga deny them once again.

Nigeria and Senegal brought on a terrific beach soccer showpiece, with everything you can ask for: goals, saves, thrill, emotion, and even some late drama. Nigeria stroke first, with Tale’s first goal of the afternoon, but the Nigerian dominion would not last more than three minutes, until Faye equalized things.

The stroke exchange remained for all the game, with Senegal managing to get ahead 2-1 only to see Nigeria turn the score around for the 2-3. Restless Tale, who seemed to be everywhere, had even time to score in his own net for the 3-3, only to undo his own mistake with a hit on the right end. Three more goals left the score 5-5 with only four minutes to go.

As seconds ticked down, the game seemed destined to extra time, as the evenness in the game was not apparently going to find any other way out before the regular time. But Faye, the man opening the score for Senegal, would also close it, with a last minute winner that has his side fighting in another final.

Goals: 0-1: Tale, min. 4 (1); 1-1: Faye, min. 0 (1); 2-1: Ndour, min. 11 (2); 2-2: Tale, min. 10 (2); 2-3: Abu, min. 9 (2); 3-3: Tale (og), min. 8 (2); 3-4: Tale, min. 10 (3); 4-4: Thioune, min. 10 (3); 4-5: Tale, min. 7 (3); 5-5: Sylla, min. 4 (3); Faye

Cote d’Ivoire ends South Africa dream

Cote d’Ivoire became an insurmountable obstacle for South Africa in their dream of getting to the final of this Power Horse Beach Soccer African Trophy they are hosting in Durban. The Elephants inflicted the Bafana Bafana a severe punishment, and ended up storming into the final of the competition, where they will take on the defending African champions, Senegal.

The first period of the game was fairly balanced, and only a late effort by Daniel unbalanced the score. After the first break, though, the Ivoirians would step on the gas and widen the distance almost definitively. Daniel, who had not enough with only one goal, scored three more in the opening of the second frame, and two more hits by Aka would leave the score 0-6.

Things would get worse for the hosts, who saw Kablan and Aka strike again for the 0-8. Mokababa could pull one back for the Bafana Bafana before Kablan’s 1-9, but the match was already decided. With this loud win, the Elephants will take on one of their fiercest continental opponents, Senegal, who they already upset in the last Copa Lagos, to see who bags this first edition of the Power horse Beach Soccer African Trophy.

Goals: 0-1: Daniel, min. 0 (1); 0-2: Daniel, min. 9 (2); 0-3: Daniel, min. 8 (2); 0-4: Daniel, min. 8 (2); 0-5: Aka, min. 1 (2); 0-6: Aka, min. 0 (2); 0-7: Kablan, min. 10 (3); 0-8: Aka, min. 7 (3); 1-8: Mokababa, min. 7 (3); 1-9: Kablan, min. 5 (3)
