SC Braga earn back-to-back Portuguese crowns as the Leoas secure a new honour, the Torneo de Promoção
Sporting Clube Braga keep ruling in the Portuguese arena. The Guerreiros do Minho sealed their third consecutive Portuguese crown in the final held this past Sunday in Nazaré.
A 5-2 win over Sporting CLube Portugal had Braga adding a new trophy top their cabinet, following the brilliant consecution of their second Euro Winners Cup earlier this year.
The opening 4-0 run had things rolling for the Minhotos, with goals by Bruno Torres, Bruno Xavier, Filipe Silva and Léo Martins. Portuguese internationals Rui Coimbra and Jordan Santos cut distance in half in the last period, but Filipe Silva hit again to seal the glory for his side.
In the fight for the third place, Casa Benfica de Loures narrowly beat CD Nacional to seal the bronze.
In turn, Vitória FC and Varzim SC got relegated to National Division, with GD Alfarim and GD Sesimbra earning Promotion to the Elite Division.
