An incredible comeback against defending champions CA Bellavista gave Sagayo’s side the win
Racing Club de Montevideo have become the new kings of the Uruguayan Beach Soccer stage, after deposing the defending champions CA Bellavista in the final held yesterday in Montevideo’s Playa Pocitos.
Despite seeing themselves 0-4 down after the first period, Racing reacted Bellavista’s dominance to cut distance in half in the second period. In the last break, five more goals gave Marcelo Capurro’s side the win, despite Bellavista tried everything to stop Sagayo’s side’s reaction.
Three goals by Marcelo Capurro, two by Luis Quinta and one by his brother Agustín and Gabriel López turned the game around, and left Bellavista’s efforts rewardless.
Racing had earned their right to take part in the Uruguayan Superfinal following their excellent performance over the last week, in which they became the champions of the Torneo Clausura, what precisely gave them access to the final fight for the title on Sunday.
Racing Club de Montevideo will be, then, Uruguay’s representative at the next Copa Libertadores.
