The host city has always been a pivotal beach soccer destination, and with this event it joins again the Beach Soccer Worldwide circuit.
Joan Cusco, Beach Soccer WorldwideExecutive Vicepresident, highlighted the importance of this Power Horse Beach Soccer African Trophy Durban 2015, assuring that “we are delighted to come back to one of our homes, Durban, host to several top-flight events in the last years. Besides, Durban comes back to the Beach Soccer Worldwide stage with a key event, with the best teams of Africa, a continent naturally gifted for beach soccer. Events like this are truly valuable to foster the development of the sport in the region, which for sure will be seeing one of their countries achieving something important in the World Cup soon”.
All of the excitement and elite action starts with the host team, South Africa, as they have built an emblematic venue and have helped to successfully increase beach soccer reach in their nation as well the African continent as a whole. International selections are always revved up for the trek to South Africa, and this year is no different, setting the stage for the best African teams to compete as well as eager newcomers, Seychelles.
As always, aside from the entertainment on the pitch, there’ll be plenty to keep the spectators’ thirst for fun satiated. From hot local music acts, a bevy of sizzling cheerleaders to sponsor activations in and around the venue, both locals and visitors can brace themselves for a festive atmosphere.
Moreover, to ensure long term sustainability, BSWW will be donating two full beach soccer pitches to run activations year round. This will ensure that Beach Soccer is used as a platform to connect the community and to create a family friendly, safe and fun atmosphere at the beach.
The fiesta and battle royale, mixed into one, marks a big year for African Beach Soccer, with multiple events on the horizon, including the FIFA Beach Soccer World Cup Portugal 2015 – CAF Qualifier Seychelles. As always, the matches will be available through beachsoccer.com. There will be daily updates on the games, in case you miss them, so do not hesitate to check back.
