Holding on to their Mundialito title and claiming silver at the Mediterranean Beach Games sees Portugal reclaim second
Portugal are August’s Movers of the Month after retaining the Mundialito on home soil and claiming their second Olympic medal of the summer in the form of a Mediterranean Beach Games silver.
Mario Narciso’s men have over taken Russia once more to claim second place in the official world rankings, with only the world champions Brazil in front of them.
There were several big jumps up the ranking for the North American sides following the World Beach Games – Qualifier El Salvador 2019, as Mexico break into the top ten.
USA move up to sixteenth, El Salvador rise seven places into 21st and there are significant climbs also for Panama, Bahamas and Trinidad and Tobago.
Libya leapt an impressive 17 places into 49th after their spell in Patras at the Mediterranean Beach Games.
Yet another new arrival in the table, Finland, break into the world ranking in position 102, following their maiden appearance at an official beach soccer event, the Euro Beach Soccer League regular stage in Catania, Italy.
