Poland and Italy in, Spain out

Last day in the Power Horse EBSL Torredembarra defines Superfinal, as Ukraine is the last to join Promotion Final

Poland gets to The Hague!

Gorecki’s hand miraculously reached Borer’s penalty kick attempt with just twenty seconds to go in the match facing Poland and Switzerland in the last day of the Power Horse Euro Soccer League Torredembarra 2012, and the Polish goalkeeper tipping the ball out meant for his team the ticket to the EBSL Superfinal, together with Frieszkemut’s double. The 1-2 victory over the Swiss, gives Saganowski’s side a total record of seven points, booty enough to be one of the best six in Europe.

Only a victory would do for the Polish, who were battling both with Spain and Italy, in the distance, for one of the remaining slots in the continental decider. Switzerland, needless to say, was not an easy opponent to do so, despite the fact that Schirinzi’s side had already seized the first place in the stage, thanks to their 6-point register.

Saganowski’s team did no rush up front during the first minutes, though, reckoning the Swiss talent, and no many goal chances happened at any of both ends. But at the first minute of the third period, one of the Polish key players, Frieszkemut, finally swept Poland ahead. Little afterwards, the number nine himself widened the gap, having things in a very good position for his side. It was then the time for the Alpine to react, and so they did, through Borer some seconds later. With the clock ticking down, Switzerland kept trying to level things back, and their efforts got a penalty kick awarded to Borer, with just twenty seconds to go. Switzerland had the chance to tighten things regarding the Superfinal, but, this time, though, the Swiss number 20 found the brilliant reply by Gorecki, who sent his ball wide. That amazing save merited the ticket for Poland, who joins Russia, Romania, Switzerland, Portugal, and Italy in the fight for the European throne.

Goals: 0-1: Frieszkemutz, min. 11 (3); 0-2: Frieszkemut, min. 7 (3); 1-2: Borer, min. 5 (3);

Two points is not enough for Spain

Spain experienced today a bitter victory against Portugal, in the closing game of the Power Horse Euro Beach Soccer League Torredembarra 2012. Julian Alonso’s side needed a three-point win against the Lusitanians today, but the extra-time win collected just two points, insufficient booty for the Spaniards to access the EBSL Superfinal. Italy, from the distance, sees the door wide open.

La Roja tried all ways to clinch a regular-time win, but they were facing one of the strongest sides in the world, and they even saw themselves down in the score rather early, due to Bruno Novo’s opener. Spain’s faith did not flag a bit after that early stroke, and the excellent collective moves and the inspiration by Juanma and Llorenç accomplished turning the score around. The Spaniards’ number 14, though, could not see his party complete, as he could not add the ticket to The Hague to the MVP and Top Scorer awards he seized in his own home town.

And he could not do so due to Jose Maria’s equalizer for the 3-3, a result which would not vary in the remaining regular minutes. The match coming into extra time, where Spain would brilliantly clinch the victory, meant the booty reduced to two points. Those were not push enough for La Roja, who saw Italy taking the last train to the EBSL Superfinal thanks to a better general goal-average.

Goals: 0-1: Bruno Novo, min. (1); 1-1: Juanma, min. 10 (2); 1-2: Coimbra, min. 2 (2); 2-2: Llorenç, min. 1 (2); 3-2: Llorenç, min. 8 (3); 3-3: Jose Maria, min. 8 (3); 4-3: Llorenç, min. 2 (et); 5-3: Amarelle, min. 0 (3)

Ukraine restates their bid (2-8)

The Ukrainian National team knew that a defeat today could have things really difficult for them regarding their Promotion Final chances, after Estonia’s 6-point records. Bozhenko’s side could not afford any mistake against England, who, at the same time could see the door to The Hague open through a wide win over their opponents. No more mistakes allowed for them, and, after a fairly balanced first minutes, Ukraine would field their amusing efficiency to bag the points, and the Cup, in this Division B pool of the Power Horse Euro Beach Soccer League Torredembarra 2012.

Both sides acknowledged that any lapse of concentration could mean getting quickly behind on the score, and that lead to a first stage of the game in which caution was the common denominator. The Ukrainians, banking on one of the most devastating attacking lines in the whole continent, found it hard to break the English resistance for most of the first period. Indeed, it was Younie the one opening the score and having his side ahead.

But what that goal did manage was to awaken the beast… Immediately, Zvorobskiy replied for the equalizer, and begun a 0-6 run that would blast all English options. Day’s 2-6 for England was never enough to change the course of the match, and Bozhenko’s side would even punish Webb’s nets twice again, thus securing the lead in this Division B table and, subsequently, the ticket to the Euro Beach Soccer League Superfinal.

Goals: 1-0: Younie, min. 3 (1); 1-1: Zvorobskiy, min. 3 (2); 1-2: Pachev, min. 1 (1); 1-3: Korniichuk, min. 0 (1); 1-4: Zvorobskiy, min. 7 (2); 1-5: Andrieiev, min. 7 (3); 1-6: Illichov, min. 6 (3); 2-6: Day, min. 6 (3); 2-7: Zvorobskiy, min. 5 (3); 2-8: Gladchenko, min. 3 (3);

Fruitless effort for Estonia (8-2)

Despite the ticket to The Hague was not fully at their hands, Estonia wanted to exhaust every option to do so. They could do nothing more than taking on Andorra trying to clinch the three points to complete a 6-unit registers, and going, at the same time, for as much a wide victory as possible. And so they did, inflicting the Pyrenean a heavy defeat (8-2) to sit on the stands waiting for a loud English victory over Ukraine. This last part, though, did not happen, so all efforts by Haavitsu’s side turned meaningless.

Saharov was the one getting his team on the right track yet in the first minute of the game, and pushing them higher with the 2-0 little afterwards. Andorra replied at the beginning of the second period, thanks to two brilliant moves by Mejías and Blázquez, but the Estonians would not let their last options vanish without making the most of them, and immediately counteracted with Luuk, Galkin and Truusalu clearing things up on their favour with the 7-2 before that second stage was over.

With the match already decisively unbalanced, Truusalu rounded his hat-trick for the final 8-2, which, unfortunately for them had no influence in opening the doors to the Euro Beach Soccer League Promotion Final.

Goals: 1-0: Saharov, min. 11 (1); 2-0: Saharov, min. 6 (1); 2-1: Mejías, min. 10 (2); 2-2: Blázquez, min. 9 (2); 3-2: Lukk, min. 7 (2); 4-2: Galkin, min. 6 (2); 5-2: Truusalu, min. 3 (2); 6-2: Galkin, min. 2 (2); 7-2: Truusalu, min. 0 (2); 8-2: Truusalu, min. 7 (3);
