Argentina taste triple victory against Peru as friendlies take place in Buenos Aires
A friendly event between Argentina and Peru took place in Buenos Aires at the Estadio Julio Grondona on the outskirts of the city.
The hosts won all three of the matches but had to work much harder on the first day to snatch a single point after Peru forced penalties.
The match was a tight affair from start to finish, as neither side had particular trouble in finding the back of the net.
After normal time, the game ended at 7-7, and then went to an extra three minutes. When the added time couldn’t define a winner, it was down to a penalty shootout, where Peru blinked first and Argentina won 7(4)-7(3).
On day two the match was another close one, but the Argentines managed to take a second victory, today in normal time, thanks to braces from Manuel Bordón and Lucas Medero. The match finished 6-5 in Argentina’s favour.
Both players socred once more in the third and final match to help Argentina make it three wins out of three with a 6-3 victory, but two very strong performance from Peru show that they are ready to compete with the continent’s (and indeed the world’s!) very best sides.
These friendly internationals are a great way for teams to fine-tune their skills ahead of major tournaments, as well as picking up points and essential experience. On top of that, it is great to see two nationalities coming together to play beach soccer – whatever the occasion.
