Paraguay and Brazil open CONMEBOL Liga Evolución in style

Big wins over Chile and Argentina have the hosts and the Verdeamarela ahead in the table in Asunción

Paraguay and Brazil landed their first wins in the opening matchday of the Women’s Liga Evolución de Fútbol Playa taking place in Luque (Asunción) over the weekend.

Brazil and Argentina clashed in the Women’s beach soccer version of the South American international Classico in the tournament’s opener, with the Verdeamarela fielding their wider experience to grasp the first points at stake in the competition with a comfortable win (7-2).

Lorena Medeiros and Danielle Barbosa’s braces and the contribution by Nayara Couto, Silvia Sousa and Barbara Colodetti were too much for the Albiceleste, who could only reply with the hits by Sofia Masetto and Agostina Tasinazzo.

In turn, the hosts Paraguay bagged a big win over Chile, and got on top of the table thanks after beating La Roja with an incontestable 6-0 victory.

During the opening ceremony of this first Women’s Liga Evolución de Fútbol Playa, CONMEBOL president Alejandro Domínguez and APF Robert Harrison, highlighted the importance of this first step in the development of Women’s beach soccer in the South American region.
