The Lisboa side, with internationals Hidalgo, Rui Coimbra, Marinho and Jordan beat Sotão in the final (2-3)
Os Belenenses claimed the cup in the first edition of the Portuguese National Beach Soccer Championship, organized by the Portuguese Football Association (FPF). The sky-blue side tightly bent Sotão thanks to Pedro Quejeira’s winner, from the penalty kick spot, in the last minute of the extra time, after the match had finished with 2-2.
The Restelo based side, with regular internationals such as Marinho, Jordan or Rui Coimbra, together with the newly appointed Portugal goalkeeper Hidalgo, managed to counteract Bruno Novo’s opener for Sotão, although Novo himself equalized the score and sent the match into extra time after the Lisboans had had things 1-2 on their favour, thanks to Gonçalves and Marinho.
In the match for the third and fourth place, Arrentela beat Vitoria Setúbal from the penalty spot (1-0) after the regular time ended with a 4-4 on the score.
