All the attendants of the official press conference highlighted the solid link between Catania and Italy, and Beach Soccer
The close relationship between beach soccer and Catania and Italy was the main topic of the official presentation of this upcoming Euro Beach Soccer League Catania 2014. An important representation of the city was present at the press conference, held this afternoon. The Assessore allo Sport of the Catania City Council, Valentina Scialfa, the president of the Local Organizing Committee, Santi Rando, or the president of the Catania Vertice, Nello Rosso, together with them, Gabino Renales, Deputy Vice-president of Beach Soccer Worldwide, Ferdinando Arcopinto, Member of the Beach Soccer Department of the FIGC/Lega Nazionale Dilettanti, Massimiliano Esposito, Italy’s National Coach or Giuseppe Bosco, president of Catania Beach Soccer took active part in the event’s presentation.
“After having hosted the Euro Winners Cup 2014 some weeks ago, with the excellent sensations it left, we are really happy to have a top-class competition like the Euro Beach Soccer League back to our beaches“, said Valentina Scialfa, Assessore allo Sport of the Catania City Council.
Santi Rando, president of the LOC, also talked about “the projection Catania will have to the world thanks to such an internationally followed event. It is not only the positive effect for the local hotels and restaurants, but the thousands and thousands of people that will be watching“. Nello Rosso, president of Catania Vertice, agreed, adding that “it is always a great honour to host our National Team, the Azzurra, in our city“.
Gabino Renales, Beach Soccer Worldwide Deputy vice-president, highlighted the importance of the Euro Beach Soccer League “a tournament with 17 years of history, and the best teams in Europe involved. We are happy to be again in Italy with a new stage of the League, and in Catania, that delivered a wonderful event in the last Euro Winners Cup held just some weeks ago“.
In the same line, Giuseppe Bosco, president of Catania Beach Soccer, remembered that “we had an excellent event in the last Euro Winners Cup. The city and its people proved they are ready for top-notch events, and we want to bring on another success story for beach soccer and Catania with this Euro Beach Soccer League event“.
Massimiliano Esposito, Italy’s national coach, closed the press conference thanking Catania “for their welcoming attitude and their will to host an Euro Beach Soccer League stage“, and explained that the team is ready, despite some injuries, to do a great event and respond to the expectations of their supportive crowd.
