EBSL Promotion Final moved to Nazaré (1-6 September)

Administrative reasons prevent Chisinau from holding the Division B decider but plan to host the event in 2021

The Euro Beach Soccer League Promotion Final will also head to Nazaré (Portugal) to be reunited with its sister event, the Euro Beach Soccer League Superfinal, at the Estadio do Viveiro (always in accordance with the directives from the Portugal Health Bureaux -DGS-, after BSWW, the Portuguese Football Association -FPF and the Portuguese DGS keep working day by day to make sure the viability of the events).

Administrative reasons have rendered it impossible for the Moldovan capital to host the competition, as previously scheduled, so the Moldova Football Association and Beach Soccer World Wide have agreed to postpone hosting the competition until next year.

As a result, the EBSL Promotion Final will happen in Nazaré between the 1 and 6 September (the same week as the Euro Beach Soccer League Superfinal and the Women’s Euro Beach Soccer Cup).

However, Moldova maintain a firm commitment to becoming a key venue for the Euro Beach Soccer League, which they plan to host in their state-of-the-art stadium in the coming season.

The President of the Moldova Football Association, Leonid Oleinicenco, expressed that this was a necessary decision to make: “Seeing the cross-border restrictions on mobility due to the Covid-19 pandemic, we have agreed with Beach Soccer World Wide to postpone the celebration of our first international beach soccer event in Chisinau. We think it is the correct thing to do, as what we want is to have the best possible event to inaugurate our stadium. If the conditions are not ideal now, the most sensible thing to do is to wait for a better occasion. We will keep working to develop the sport with full strength, making sure that we this first top-class event we host in our stadium is an unforgettable one. In this context, it is in our plans to host an Euro Beach Soccer League event next July 2021.”

In the same line, Joan Cusco, president of Beach Soccer Worldwide explained that there was no other option, despite both entities having a big interest in the competition happening in Chisinau’s new stadium. “We see everyday how the situation gets more complicated in some countries, and we had to make this decision, as many teams were facing huge mobility difficulties due to international restrictions. We want to thank the Moldovan Football Association and president Oleinicenco for their ongoing support and the ambitious plan they have put in place to help beach soccer grow steadily in the country. We look forward to seeing the competition happen in the most successful manner in the coming summer.”

The final match schedule and competition format of the Euro beach Soccer League Promotion Final Nazaré 2020 will be communicated officially in the coming days.
