Bryshtsel makes Belarus champions of the Friendship Cup

Another hat-trick of the local star gets the hosts the last three points at stake

Belarus stayed perfect today to clinch the BSWW Tour – Friendship Cup 2017 they hosted in Vitebsk. Another brilliant performance by captain Ihar Bryshtsel made the difference in the decider, with three goals that helped Belarus narrowly prevail (4-3) over Azerbaijan.

After the 3-0 run in the first two periods, Azerbaijan tried to react in the third period, cutting the distance to 3-2. Bryshtsel widened the gap again, to have the hosts two goals up, and final reaction by the Azeri fell one goal short, with Asif pulling back the final 4-3.

Besides Bryshtsel, another of the protagonists was Nico Alvarado, who has begun his coaching career claiming the first cup he has took part in.

Turkey bags second place

The Turkish National Team, in turn, managed to claim a second place finish following a stout win over Lithuania, which, combined with Azerbaijan’s defeat, made them the second best team in the standings, with five points.
