The champions are back in the world’s top three after success in Cascais.
Brazil have replaced Italy in the top three of the Powerhouse Beach Soccer World Rankings for July after clinching he XXth Mundialito on Carcavelos Beach in Cascais.
The Selecao came up against traditional Mundialito rivals Portugal in Sunday’s final and ran out 6-4 winners in a thrilling contest to finish top of a group that also included China and United States.
It was Brazil’s 13th Mundialito success and their impressive campaign was capped by a top scorer award for Lucao, with their form also rewarded by a one-place jump in the rankings.
Portugal remain top after finishing second this weekend – ahead of Russia – while Brazil move a place above Italy and back into the top three.
The remainder of the top 10 is unchanged while the USA received a six-place boost after victory over China ensured them third place in Portugal at the weekend.
Among the other notable movers for July were Austria – beaten by Czech Republic in the final of the recent Nations Cup in Linz – and the Bahamas, who have played a series of friendlies around Europe as part of their preparation for the FIFA Beach Soccer World Cup 2017 in Nassau.
They sit just outside the world’s top 50, while Austria jump five places to 46th.
A number of teams will have the chance to move up the rankings during August, with the third Euro Beach Soccer League stage taking place in Siofok as well as the Superfinal and Promotion Finals in Catania.
