Mozambique remain perfect in Beach Soccer AFCON

Their win on Monday means the Mambas are within touching distance of the semi-finals

Mozambique registered an emphatic victory against Seychelles on Monday 24 May to become the first team to reach six points in CAF’s Beach Soccer Africa Cup of Nations in Saly, Senegal.

In the day’s other match, Uganda claimed their first ever win in the Beach Soccer AFCON, beating Tanzania narrowly in Group A by four goals to three, thanks to a brace from Isma Kawakulo.

After their shock win against the Pharaohs of Egypt on Day 1, Mozambique took another three points against Seychelles to go top of Group B, thanks to another stellar performance by Nelson Manuel, who has an incredible eight goals in just two matches, topping the scoring charts.

For Seychelles it is a very different story, as their second defeat in as many matches means that they are now out of the running for a place at the 2021 FIFA Beach Soccer World Cup.

Hosts Senegal had a rest day on Monday but will return to the fray on Wednesday when they meet Tanzania.

The 2021 edition of the CAF Beach Soccer Africa Cup of Nations began on Sunday 23 and will run until Saturday 29 May. The two teams representing Africa at the 2021 FIFA Beach Soccer World Cup Russia will be decided on Friday 28 May when the semi-finals decide the two finalists.
