The Copa Lagos 2017 champions ended the year as Movers of the Month.
Spain head into 2018 on a high, having been named Movers of the Month for December following their success at the Copa Lagos in Nigeria last month.
Joaquin Alonso’s men begin the new year in 13th position – moving up three places as a result of their triumph in Lagos where they overcame Morocco, Nigeria and Lebanon to claim the title.
The Spanish also enjoyed trophy wins at the Euro Beach Soccer League stage in Belgrade last year as well as a creditable fourth-place finish in the continental competition overall and head into 2018 full of confidence.
Their Copa Lagos opponents saw mixed results in the rankings with runners-up Nigeria falling a place to 21st, Morocco moving up one spot to 25th and Lebanon staying put at 23rd.
The world’s top ten remain unchanged, with Brazil ending the year top of the tree, while Mexico swap places with Senegal in 11th and 12th respectively.
Amid what is traditionally a quiet time of the beach soccer calendar, Ukraine and Panama enjoy healthy jumps inside the top 20, with FIFA Beach Soccer World Cup 2017 hosts The Bahamas moving up five spots to 33rd.
