The Brazilian coach to stay with the Nippon side at least for the next two years, until the FIFA Beach Soccer World Cup Bahamas 2017
The Japan Football Association (JFA) announced that it extended the contract of Japan Beach Soccer National Team Coach Marcelo Mendes, until 2017, including the FIFA Beach Soccer World Cup Bahamas 2017.
The Brazilian coach highlighted his great feelings after the agreement was signed: “I am very thankful with the Japanese Football Association and its president, Mr. Daini Kuniya, for the opportunity they are giving me, and for having reinforced their confidence on me and on my work”.
In these two seasons, the Mendes-steered Japan has clinched a Silver medal in the last Asian Beach Games, and became the runner-ups of the last FIFA Beach Soccer World Cup – AFC Qualifiers, held in Qatar in February 2015.
Now, the objective is to climb back to the highest place of the Asian Beach Soccer panorama: “Our challenge now is to bring the team back at the top of the continental beach soccer, and to aim for the semifinals in the next FIFA Beach Soccer World Cup”.
